happy new year!

I took a little unintended blogging vacation, apparently. I was swamped with new year's preparations, then I wasn't feeling well on new year's day, and then I (thankfully) wasn't near a computer for the rest of the week. I'm back at work now, struggling to catch up on all my emails and start the long process of getting up to speed on what I missed last week. I owe you all some information, though.

1. The smokin' booty jeans are Lucky Jeans. I have an older pair that I love in the Sweet and Low style, but the newer booty jeans are Dream style. They are rather low, though, and perhaps wouldn't work for someone that isn't curvy. My hips fall into the curvy, rather than smaller hipped style I so covet. The jeans are fabulous, though, I highly recommend them.

2. Thank you SOOO much for all your suggestions on our little getaway! I have a post with pictures in the works, but we finally settled on a three day trip to Cape Cod this time, and in February we hope to take another trip to Portland, Maine based on all of your suggestions. Cape Cod is lovely, although very very very quiet in January. The first week in January seems to be a vacation time for many innkeepers and shopowners, so I'd pick a different week next time, but we did get tons of good deals on the stores that were open. In fact, we stumbled upon an adorable dog store that was offering 50% off of everything, so Tango and Murray made out quite well.

3. My eye is still twitching, although more sporadically now. I am beginning to suspect that a one week vacation isn't quite long enough. Or maybe I need a beach vacation next time?

4. Last night I opened the trunk of our station wagon, and then promptly ran into it with my forehead. I am now sporting a bluish black lump close to my hairline of the likes that I haven't seen since I was a child. Aren't we supposed to grow out of running into things? AREN'T WE?

I hope all of your new years have started out well! Longer and hopefully more exciting post to come...

A few years ago, my opthamologist noticed that my retina had a small tear in it. She told me (at the time) that it shouldn't be that much of an issue for a while, but that I should really be careful to stay away from head injuries.

STAY AWAY FROM HEAD INJURIES!?!?

Do you KNOW how many times I have hit my head since that dooming conversation??? Too many to count, including one less than 5 minutes ago when I was taking off my big-ole'-honkin'-Bose headphones to answer the phone and they got caught on my ear and snapped back onto my left eye just below the eyebrow!!

Sadly, one of these many head bonking incidents did result in that retina detaching which led to $10,000 of surgery and a month out of work.

Annnnnyway...Happy New Year to you, too and welcome back.

Aargh, I run into things -- esp. car doors -- all the time. Sorry to hear I'm not alone in this affliction! And glad you had what sounds like a really quiet getaway...

I've had a detached retina. No fun. 5 operations later it's doing well.
The head injury thing? Try to avoid that too. First it's no fun, and second, it's just not a good thing.
I did that back in 1985. Hubby says it explains a lot! LOL

Glad you had a wonderful vacation! Cape Cod sounds amazing - I can't wait to see the photos. It'll give me even more ideas for when I plan my next trip to the States, although that probably won't be for a year or two.

Hope your bruise gets a lot better very soon. :)

I do shit like that all the time. I fall, I wipe out... Why just last Friday, I was walking down the parking garage stairs and slipped and dropped TWO GREAT ONE's CUPS OF COFFEE down the stairs. I also dropped on of my shoes in the coffee, and did something to my ankle/thigh.

I have also been known to fall off the porch, while carrying laundry, Fall off the step that leads to my washer and fall into a box of metal closet organizing material. And I once gave myself a black eye in college when I reached up to get a tupperware container down and it fell and popped me in the eye.

Welcome back! Cape Cod ... a place I've never been, but I imagine it to be very mysterious because of all the old Mary Higgins Clark novels I read that are set there. :)

1. I know what Lucky jeans are, but otherwise have no idea what you're talking about. I'm wearing Levis as we speak/type. Not very L.A. of me, I'm aware.

2. Sounds lovely. Never been there! Pictures?

3. Ick. Sorry.

4. Ow!

Happy New Year!

Welcome back! Your trip sounds very enjoyable, can't wait to see the pics.

No, we don't grow out of self-injury it seems. Just wait unti; you have a small person to hold in your clumsy arms. I fell up the stairs with Baby H and bruised my shins and busted her lip.

i attribute the bump to the eye twitch and the eye twitch to anxiety from having to go back to work! you should've taken two weeks, but i suspect the firm couldn't survive without you . . . welcome back!
