11 weeks!

Did I mention that I'm tired? Yesterday, I fell asleep while waiting for Josh to finish dinner. Then I fell asleep after dinner on the couch. After sleeping 11 hours the night before, and last night I tumbled into bed and could barely drag myself out after 8 hours of sleep. This whole baby incubating thing is kicking my ass! Who knew it was so hard to grow a person?

Thankfully, Josh has been my saving grace and has taken over all of the household tasks with no complaint. In fact, he is far better now that I'm practically incapacitated than he was before! Maybe I should stick to laying on the couch and moaning. It seems to get results. This weekend he did 4 loads of laundry, cleaned the house, made lunch and dinner, cleaned up after the dogs, and ironed all of the shirts I haven't worn since my mom visited in December -because that is how long it has been since anyone touched the iron.

The nausea is about the same. I have good days and bad days, and it is difficult for me to tell which one it will be until I'm up and moving. My first indication is whether I start gagging in the shower or while brushing my teeth; those are clearly bad days. Saturday, I felt like a normal person that didn't need to ingest chicken at regularly spaced 2 hour intervals! It was fantastic! Sunday came and I apparently was hit with the nausea stick during the night because I could barely move without gagging. But I am NOT complaining, I am merely posting the details for your enjoyment. I also post them in my belly book of memories, because I would like this child to know that when the male associate came into my office this morning, I gagged on the smell of his cologne. If this isn't love, I don't know what is.

I am also currently enjoying the fact that my belly is straining against the buttons on my shirt. This morning, I was pleased with the fact that I still fit into one pair of pre-pregnancy pants and button-down shirt. By nightfall and 3 meals later, however, I look like I am wearing clothing one size too small. Thank goodness people are too busy working to notice my humpty dumpty shape!

I tried for an hour to upload a belly picture for you, but it wouldn't come through. I'll make another attempt tonight, so that you can enjoy the ridiculosity that is my 11 week belly. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to look like this for another month or so, but my stomach hasn't been listening.

So life is good! Gestating is still going well, and I am taking your assurances to heart that at 13 weeks I'll feel fantastic. Don't try to tell me otherwise. I only have 12 days to go.

Yea! You are almost out of the first trimester. Hopefully your tummy will start to settle down soon.

Have you had an ultrasound yet to confirm only one? My friend was very nauseous and looked very preggers early on and ended up with twins :-)

With my first pregnancy, no one warned me about the tiredness thing. I started going to bed early all the time, and I was always wanting to take naps, and I just didn't know why I was so tired. I remember talking about it with my husband and he kept saying, "You aren't depressed are you? How come you want to sleep all the time?"

Then I mentioned it at a family gathering, and every woman there was like, "Duh! You are pregnant! That is why you are so tired!"

It was such a relief to find out it was part of a healthy normal pregnancy. For me, both the tiredness and the nausea always disappeared at about 12 or 13 weeks. So hang in there ....

Sorry that the nausea is still a problem. I lived on saltines for the first four months. And I popped early on too.
Have you mentioned your condition at work?

I haven't told at work yet, and I think that is part of the problem. Last month was my busiest month so far! The other problem is that I picked up a cold this weekend, and between the exhaustion and sore throat and stuffiness, I've had it. I need to crawl into bed and sleep for 2 days. Plus, we have a house guest, who is lovely and wonderful, but a guest nonetheless.

I'm. Just. So. Tired.

I'm beginning to wonder whether it isn't a conspiracy that we have to keep pregnancy a secret in the first trimester, when it is so freaking hard. I think perhaps people just don't want to hear us complain.

And anonymous, no twins! Although I would have loved that, crazy as it sounds.

Oh, yes, the fatigue.

BTW, has anyone told you that there's also a chance that your libido will totally go through the roof in the second trimester? Happened for me with my first child. I was literally waking DH up in the middle of the night a few times a week for what the Phantom Scribbler pixies now call "games of chest" because I was dreaming about him. He didn't mind. :)

The fatigue really will fade and will probably not return until the end of the pregnancy.

I second P_K's mention of the libido picking up. It did with all 3 of my pregnancies and it was to the point of being ridiculous. Josh will either be really happy or really tired. :)

You're pretty small to begin with, so the baby has nowhere to go but out, you know? At least, that was my theory when I popped, 17 minutes after conception....

I was terribly sick and terribly tired for the first four months of both my pregnancies. When I was pregnant with my first I kept hearing people talk about this wonderful "burst of energy" that I'd get as I entered my second trimester. It sounded glorious and I waited with bated breath for that energy...and it never came. I just dragged my ass around.

But lo and behold, during my second pregnancy, after I raised my head out of the toilet bowl and stayed awake for longer than forty minutes at a time, I GOT THAT BURST! And holy crap, did I ever feel GOOD!

I hope that happens to you. :)

You know how my morning sickness went, but the fatigue really does get better! I managed to stay awake through all my final exams last semester!

Just have to say one more time that this is so cool! Geez, I would never have the willpower to keep it a secret.

Because I came by my children the OTHER way, I cannot comment on popping, fatigue, or desires for games of chest. I can only reiterate how thrilled I am for you and how sure I am that you will be a wonderful mother! Plus, check your email.

I saw this article and thought you would be interested: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/08/fashion/thursdaystyles/08MATERNITY.html?th&emc=th

It's all about maternity styles and how much they've improved.

i'm a 10 weeks pregnant lawyer. I work and have to look smart and wear heels. I still run around, pretty still active save that i drag my feet evry once in a while and slump on any seat close to me. My friends tell me to start wearing maternity clothes and very flat shoes. but should i? I mean, my tommy aint coming out yet. Then the heels...
What do i do about my feeding? Nothing appeals to me anymore. I get very hungry but all my favorite foods, snacks and fruits are now like aaaggghhhhhh...
