penance

I'm not sure what my penance will be for all this bloggy neglect, but I'll have to think of some way to make up for it. I know I've been mind-numbingly boring lately, and I'm working on it. This weekend I hope to get some good time set aside to write you a real update, with actual details and fun information. So don't give up on me yet!!!

Between my working hours and Josh's finals for the past two weeks, my house has been slowly disintegrating into a toxic zone. It was long overdue for a cleaning before we got slammed with work and school, and these days, it is downright pitiful. There are dust bunnies on the stairs that threaten to overtake me when I go upstairs. Leaves and twigs tracked inside by the dogs are growing in the corners of the downstairs rooms. If I sit on the couches before I leave for work, I find myself covered in dog hair that has also been accumulating with no one to vacuum the cushions. Laundry has become a triage situation, with underwear and socks thrown in at 10pm on Sunday nights when we realize we'll have nothing to wear that week.

The only thing I have the time or patience for is sheet changing and grocery shopping, and even that is not looking good as of late. Our neighbor asked to come over and use our mixer for a minute, and I couldn't think of an excuse fast enough, but I couldn't fathom anyone actually seeing this disaster that we sleep in. I say sleep, because we aren't actually living there. I'm spending far more of the day at work than at home, I've calculated it.

I can't believe more bloggers haven't mentioned the weather in New England these days, too. It is gloomy and dreary and freezing, and I walk around mumbling about April showers, my ass.

Anyway, all of this is a long way of asking for forgiveness, and this weekend I will put my blogging hat on and be better. I promise! I hope everyone is enjoying better springy weather than we are around here!

Of course, you are forgiven!

I hope you are able to get some rest over the weekend (and blog if you want).

I don't know about New England weather, but here in Ohio it is cold, dreary, and raining cats and dogs. Very depressing.

I was wondering if it could be my new perfume! I hate it when the housework gets away from me (every week) and I have to make excuses to stand at the door and talk to neighbors. We've missed you and you are way more than forgiven!

If it makes you feel any better, it's been dreary and grey in SoCal,too. Not cold, but certainly not sunny. I'm sick of it.

Hope your work load lightens up a bit soon!

Ugh. The weather. I hates it.

Pets are great and all, but I don't think nonpet people understand just how HARD we have to work to keep our houses presentable. Like a thousand times harder than pet free people! The hair! Good lord, the hair . . .

I bet my house is messier than yours.

I am simply trying to ignore the weather. Of course I just came in from walking Greta and find I need to go and change my shoes and socks as I am soaked! Yuuuuuuuck!

Yeah, the weather stinks, doesn't it? The boys are going nuts. Looking forward to the update!

My first year living here...it snowed the weekend before Memorial Day. Every year since then, I have noticed that it is not appropriatly warm until my birthday at the end of June.

But even knowing all that, I am still greatly saddened by the 800th day of rain...and now the rain has made me sick. Grrrrr.

Hope your weekend is fun, regardless of the 6+ inches they are calling for.

I am just impressed that changing sheets makes your essential chore list -- at my house, grocery shopping and laundry are the only jobs that get done when all else goes to hell. Hope your work days are getting better...

I have experienced those sad shaped days. Maybe a housekeeper once every two weeks would help? I long for one to come here and help!

Hi,there, HL. I hope that you're not having any flooding in your area from all the rain; that would be way worse than dog hair on the couch. Hang in there; hopefully both you and Josh will have some down time soon to get caught up with things at home (and to relax!).

All is forgiven, HL! Good luck catching up with life; it's amazing how it creeps up on you and nails you with a dust bunny the size of a Cadillac! Or is that just what happens in my house?

Well, for whatever reason, I can't post on the newest post--so--congratulations! Even though it doesn't belong here.

Many wishes for a happy and healthy 9 months.
