third time's a charm

In a culmination to what may be one of our best summers yet... I'm pregnant.

7 and a half weeks pregnant, to be exact. And horrifically unbelievably shockingly sick, vomiting or swallowing back vomit constantly sick.

I'm over the moon ecstatic. I mean, really thrilled, so happy, crazy excited. I've always hoped for another baby, but Josh has always said he's satisfied with 2 children, so it was never a sure thing. When we finally agreed to try for a third, my stomach was in knots just thinking it wouldn't happen. And of course, Gabe and Josie would have been more than enough for me, of course I'm ridiculously blessed, but the heart wants what the heart wants, and mine wanted another baby.

So I'm very, very, very happy. Feeling very, very, very lucky.

The all-the-freaking-day sickness is hard. The hardest thing I've ever had to deal with, though, I'll admit that. I have spent a lot of nights crying, because nights are the worst. I have had a running streak over the last few days where I'll start throwing up and can't stop. Everything tastes disgustingly metallic and every second of the day the nausea is almost crippling. I'm desperate to find a solution that doesn't involve medication so I'm trying crazy homeopathic remedies, low-carb or high-carb or high protein or low-dairy or liquid or anything under the sun diets, lying down or never lying down, yoga, accupressure, tapping, you name it, I've tried it. I'm dehydrated but anything liquid makes me gag, so unless I find a solution asap, my doctor has called in a prescription for anti-nausea medication and I'll have to start taking it. Suggestions or advice will be gratefully received.

I had an ultrasound last week and there is one sweet little alien-looking baby in there, with a heart beat of 134 beats a minute. I'm keeping all extremities crossed that he or she keeps growing and is healthy. Oh, and calm. I think after two lunatic children, I'm due for a sweet quiet third, right?

FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! Should I send the pump back again? lol It's still in the box you sent it back to me in. Is that hilair or what? Some people keep pen pals, we're pump pals. What's a little breastmilk between friends? :D

I'm thrilled for you. Wish I had some advice for the morning sickness. Que pena!

Oh my STARS! CONGRATULATIONS! I am SO happy for you. For Josh. For the kids - wow! I can't wait to see how things pan out so I can work out if we should have another one or not!

Now, I hope you get better. And soon. That sickness is SO debilitating. Exhausting. Awful. Sending you get better vibes soon Mama. Well done x

Congratulations!

Yes you are due for some calm and quiet, and you will probably get it too!

The sickness, I feel you there. With my first sucessful pregnancy I had it for 6 months....

Drinks, try sprite. before you even get out of bed in the morning, eat a couple saltine crackers. and then wait a couple miunutes to get up. I know thats easier said that done.
Also try drinking through a straw.
and drink things cold.

Yay! So excited for you. As I sit here very pregnant with baby #2 I am in place to know if our family will be 'complete' with just two...but I've always seen myself with three. Sadly, my hubs hasn't...so we will have to wait and see.

Also, FWIW, I always read your blog as you got your 'easy' one first and the intense one second...was I wrong or have things changed? Of course I'm asking this as someone with a very spirited first child who is truly hoping for that laid back second baby :)

The only thing I could eat was macaroni cheese and drink sparkling water with ice and lime.
I also froze ice cubes of fruit juice to suck on. That helped a little bit.
hope that helps, probably not!

YAY!!!!! Congratulations!! I wish I had something useful to say about the nausea. I did have the metallic thing when I was pregnant the first time and eating sour candy helped but that might not work for you...good luck! When are you due?
